The One-Year Dutch Language & Social Studies Program (OYP) is a full-time Dutch language study course designed for those who are interested in comprehensive study of Dutch from "from A to Z", or for those who would like to be fully prepared to take the State exam / Staatsexamen. The full-time Dutch course includes twenty hours of language study per week.
The Dutch language program is approximately ten months long and lasts from September to July. Dutch lessons are held daily from Monday to Friday, you will learn Dutch every day from 9:15 to 12:30. Each Dutch lesson consists of 4 lesson hours (each of 45 minutes) for a total of 736 lesson hours.

At the moment the program is not availble. We hope to welcome you for one of our other courses to start learning Dutch.

The Dutch course includes the four language levels of Dutch taught at Dutch First, a social study course, practical Dutch and additional Dutch grammar courses. Our one year Dutch language program in Utrecht prepares you to take the State exam / Staatsexamen in The Netherlands.
The Dutch teaching material covered in the Dutch language program equates to learning Dutch at levels A1, A2, B1, and B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The program allows participants to progressively build up their knowledge of Dutch language by working regularly with different texts, applying new vocabulary in everyday conversation, working with grammatical structures, improving practical Dutch skills under the supervision of the professional and qualified teachers.

The One Year Program gives course participants a possibility to practice the Dutch language and encourage them to use the language outside of Dutch First. Through this immersive Dutch study schedule, participants notice that their ability to communicate in Dutch improves their life in Holland with every session.

Sessions are held daily from Monday to Friday from 9:15 to 12:30.

The regular sessions focus on the study of texts, vocabulary and grammar. Participants will be gradually introduced to new topics and grammatical rules, to be further worked on during practical Dutch lessons. In small groups, participants will work on hands on use of vocabulary and grammar, and work with pronunciation as well as listening comprehension skills.

To apply for the One-Year Program at Dutch First you must have the following qualifications:

- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Be familiarized with the Latin alphabet (a,b,c, etc).
- Have completed secondary school education.

Participation in our courses does not require advanced knowledge of the English language as all Dutch lessons are conducted in the Dutch language.
Participants do not need to present certificates of passed exams in English such as TOEFL and IELTS.
Comprised of small groups of 8 to 14 people, the One-Year Program provides an intensive yet comfortable environment for learning Dutch so as to maximize success.

At the end of the OYP, the participant will receive an official certificate that will confirm that the person has participated in and successfully completed the program. Every lesson hour the particpant attends during the program will be documented. The total amount of lesson hours will also be noted on the certificate.

IMPORTANT: To receive the certificate, a minimum attendance of 90% is required. The cost of the certificate is included in the course price. Additional copies can be issued at the reception for € 5,- per copy.

After completion of the Program
After completing the program, participants will be at level B2 based on the language levels described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
